21 Accents

Hi all!

This week has really been hard as we had a timed writing task. Now it is time to explore a little bit more about how English is spoken.

Many of you sometimes ask  me the differences between accents and how words are pronounced. This video  is an example of different accents and differences between them. Can you watch the video and leave your comments answering the following questions:

1- Which of the accents are more understandable? Why?
2-Which of them are very difficult to understand? Why?

I wish you a fantastic weekend! See you all on Tuesday.

  5. Hello from YTU :)

    She is very talented indeed!

I'll answer the questions as the most and the least understable accents:

1- I believe the Californian accent is the most understandable, you know the reason why, my dear friend :)

2- The Scottish accent is the least understandable, they talk fast and it is difficult to follow them.

Have a fruitful week & Happy New Year!

Hope to see you all at http://yildizprepschool.ning.com/

  6. Hi Ömer,

I agree with you in that American English is clearer because of the letter r. Do you think there are other difficult accents in the video?

By the way, can you please explain me your final sentence tomorrow in the class? ;)

    See you tomorrow :)

Hi Işıl and hello from BU,

First of all, thank you very much for your comment. Personally, I also believe that Scottish accent is less comprehensible. What other accents may create problems in comprehension?

Hope to see more comments from YTU here ;)
